Hey, I have been trying to get VMware Player to work on my laptop and when i run the command /usr/bin/vmplayer i get this msg
vmware is installed, but it has not been (correctly) configured
for this system. To (re-)configure it, invoke the following command:
/usr/bin/vmware-config.pl.
when i run the configuration it get this during it
None of the pre-built vmmon modules for VMware Player is suitable for your
running kernel. Do you want this program to try to build the vmmon module for
your system (you need to have a C compiler installed on your system)? [yes]
I believe i have a C complier installed and after this msg i get this one
None of the pre-built vmblock modules for VMware Player is suitable for your
running kernel. Do you want this program to try to build the vmblock module
for your system (you need to have a C compiler installed on your system)?
[yes]
I also get this warning during it configuration
WARNING: could not find /tmp/vmware-config0/vmnet-only/.smac_linux.x386.o.cmd for /tmp/vmware-config0/vmnet-only/smac_linux.x386.o
If any one can help resolve this issue i would be very happy with your help

You believe you have a C compiler installed? But you're not sure? Check to make sure you have a C compiler (gcc) installed. Depending on your distro, it may be as easy as apt-get install gcc.

if you ruing ubunto you want to install build-essentials

Have you tried VirtualBox instead? I think it's actually better than VMWare.

I never tried VirtualBox because the setup seem to lack options compared to VMware Workstation setup.
