Hi, I've installed madwifi so my atheros wireless card is supported, even If I try it with Ubuntu, Gentoo or now with Debian I have always de same problem, the wireless stop working after a while, it can be seconds or minutes, but ALWAYS happens. I don't know if its the StuckBeacon problem (I don't even understand it) or not, but I search internet and I am not the only one with this problem.
Its annoying having to reconnect when the wireless decides to not work, because its appeared to be connected but doesn't receive/send any packages at all...
So I would like to try ndiswrapper and install the windows drivers, but first I would like to uninstall the madwifi driver I compiled and install, how can I do it?
THanks!

Yeah, I've been having a hell of a time lately. My card used to work great with madwifi, but for the last few kernels it's been a mess. Ath5k is no better, to far far worse. What I've found I need to do is either stick with an older distro that uses 2.6.25 or earlier (or hold the package there, ran into problems there with Arch), or use Ubuntu Intrepid which works just fine as of the beta release.
I don't know though, I have a Thinkpad with the 5212 chipset, it might be a different problem with the MBP. The Atheros drivers are kind of in disarray right now as the one ages with little attention, and the new one is under heavy development with all the new open sourcing by Atheros. -
An expert friend told me to decrease the bit rate to 24M, tomorrow I will test it in the university, I hope it will work...
Lets hope, I am tired of this ****. Maybe if it doesn't I will uninstall the driver (I now remember that I have to "make uninstall") and try with diswrapper..

What version of the Madwifi drivers do you have installed?
Your card is an AR5BXB72 (AR5008E-3NX). I have one in my laptop, and it works perfectly with Madwifi 0.10.5.6. -
I am using 0.9.4, also I tried the last snapshot... but I never really know, whats are the differences between trunk, hal and ng?
The card according to lspci:
-
The AR5BXB72 is the name of the card's chipset, the chips involved are the AR5418 and AR5008. I am using trunk release 3861, but there is a R3967 out. I haven't bothered updating to those because the ones I have now work great.
Also, I have noticed that the new kernel out (2.6.27) stops identifing the chip as the AR5418, and as the AR5008:
Code:02:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5008 Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01)
