This is my first post here so please go easy on me.
I am a complete linux newbie and since I just purchased a laptop that came from the factory without an OS installed I thought I would give linux a try on it before I went the usual default route with windows.
Anyway, I downloaded the iso file for Fedora 16 and have a question about verifying the file. When comparing the hash values for the iso vs. the checksum file does case matter?
When using Hashtab to check the hash on the iso all the letters are in lower case, while in the checksum file the letters are all upper case but otherwise they are the same exact.
One other question, as I mentioned the laptop I would be installing linux on currently has no OS on it, would I be able to run linux off the CD on the new laptop to test it out on or should I not chance it and once I get the CD burned use it on my desktop first to test it out?
Thanks.

The hash is encoded in hexadecimal so the case of the letters does not matter.
You can try the LiveCD on any of your computers, go for it! -
@OP
Give it a try and see.
