Before I decide to make the move to a PowerBook, I need to know whether a couple of things I have encountered with Ubuntu on PPC are resolved with the new Intel platform. Does anyone have any experience installing gnash and xampp/lamp on this platform and have you been successful?
Thanks,
D

Installing Linux on an Intel Mac, you use the i386 versions, which means it's running the same as it's PC counterparts.

I've gotten it running. Pretty smooth. Internal wireless is an issue, but that's the same with a lot of laptops. Also, the mouse doesn't recognize right-click, so when using windows or linux, you need an external mouse. (I ended up selling my macbook for this reason).

Can't help you there, I only use Linux in a VM in the Macbook, mostly out of curiosity. I wonder, is there any problem using xampp/lamp under OS X instead of Linux? AFAIK there is no Gnash build for OS X, but Flash support is better than under Linux.

Ubuntu on a laptop won't look better than OS X. Besides, you don't need server features as well. Ubuntu is a good desktop distro to replace XP. But why OS X?

Just personal preference ..... I'm not big into eye-candy, just functionality.

Can't you use the drivers Apple supplies to get it to recognize the right-click the same way it does in OSX, when you tap the pad with two fingers?

It would be a pretty pointless feature if it was hardware supported and just software.
Question for intel-based Mac users ....
