I have an old R7 360. When I connected it up through an IOGear DisplayPort KVM switch, I get display instability (side-to-side glitching, sometimes no display at all). Unplugging the cable from the switch to the monitor restores stable graphics, although sometimes it takes a few tries. The instability starts at the grub boot screen, so it predates the kernel loading. This is accompanied by messages indicating link training failure. I've tried every combination of cables and ports. My two laptops, with NVidia Quadro M1000M and M4000M, do not have this problem, again with either port and cable.
I was convinced to buy an RX 5500XT before realizing that it doesn't have Linux support just yet; it would only run at 1920x1080 without real acceleration, but it did not have the flicker. Does anyone know of any other low-midrange graphics adapter that doesn't have this problem? I'd greatly prefer an AMD card to an NVidia card. If I can't find such, I'll have to bite the bullet and get a GTX 1660 or such, but I'd rather not.
