Ok. So I just received notice from Gentech that my G51J has shipped :D and I want to find the best way to set this system up for linux. It looks like I will have to dual boot because of quickbooks (yes there are linux alternatives, but my accountant also uses quickbooks, so I need to stay compatible).

    The G51J will have an 80gb SSD, and a 500GB 7200rpm HD.

I am using my laptop for web development, marketing analytics and audio recording/composition, and am running the following apps:
    -- Software with linux versions
    MySQL
    Talend
    Eclipse
    Ardour

    -- Software compatible with Wine
    MS Office / Outlook
    Sibelius 5

    -- Software not compatible
    Quickbooks

    So here are my questions:
I will install the OSs on the SSD. Should I also install the apps on the SSD?

Do I need to install multiple versions of the apps that I use with Wine? (1 under linux, 1 under windows?)

Is there a format I should use that would allow data/tables to be accessible from both operating systems for MySQL?

Lastly, is there any I/O advantage to partitioning the data drive between the music/audio data and other work related data?

    Thanks

I will install Virtual box and run Quickbooks from there, to keep me from rebooting the computer just for that 1 program.
