It looks like the Sager 5750/5760 has a winmodem on board. Has anyone had any success using it under Linux? Is the RJ-11 connection usable in any other ways?

I haven't bought the machine yet. I'm just shopping. I run both XP and Linux and sometimes both at once through emulation. I've already checked tuxmobil and linux-on-laptops. The Sager reviews are all fairly old. I've also searched www.google.com/linux for Sager 5760 with no particular luck.

I was hoping to get some input here from people who already had one.

They still make winmodems? I coulda sworn they stopped making those in the late '90s. Even so, I'd imagine there are v.90/v.92 software modems available for Linux. Here's an example http://linmodems.org/
