I've been using this long enough to give it a shout out and a big thumbs UP![]()
It uses Xfce as the default DE, but Gnome can be substituted cleanly and easily if you desire.
It comes in 32 and 64 bit flavors.
Xfce 4.8 will be backported eventually by the dev, A. Nordquist.
It's the only distro that, with the Liqourix Kernel, I can have all of my laptop functions working properly such as Hibernate/Suspend and it be rock solid.

I'm waiting on a backported Squeeze kernel which will be pushed through to Saline I'm told, then try that. -
well something happened to my download of saline. I came home hoping to install it on the laptop and the download had crapped out and died for some reason. I'm torrent downloading it now so hopefully can play with it tomorrow. I'll also continue seeding for a while since there weren't that many seeds.
Whats the best way to install gnome on it? -
Once I got a complete gnome DE, I went and uninstalled the xfce stuff which really wasn't a heck of a lot. Very clean transition since its basically gtk to gtk.
EDIT: I'm going to redownload Saline x64 to set up a seed for it....should have been doing that anyway -
I'm seeding the distro and requested other seeders from salinelinux.proboards.com until he gets his mirrors moved around.
