I have a HP DV6000z and I got Ubuntu Linux with Counter-Strike Source, and Call of Duty working. I want to start BF2, but I think there is a problem with the refresh rate, since I had the same problem in Windows. How would I lock the refresh rate to lets say 50Hz?

Your refresh rate should be 60Hz. Regardless of that, however, Ubuntu typically reads nVidia cards as having a 50Hz refresh rate anyway. You can check it via the Preferences sub-menu.
