Here's my Grub boot image. I'm running Linux Mint, but that green Kali dragon still looks pretty sweet.

Just found this one and kind of like it. I found how to make the panel transparent. What is the best way to make all of the Linux program and file explorer windows have transparency like a terminal window? @Dennismungai

Some, like Gnome, support global theming with transparency effects (if the theme supports it). Take a look at Ubuntu's own Yaru theme, for an example.
Others, like KDE (last I checked was in ~2016, I could be wrong here) are quite liberal with full blown effects (transparency, transitions, etc) on a per-context basis, whereby an effect can be constrained to a single class of objects, such as the shell, without affecting other components.
This is one of these areas where my knowledge is somewhat limited. I spend little to no time mucking around desktop effects, etc.
The farthest I've gone is messing around with Conky, simply because useful stats are easily filtered and displayed non-obstructively. The rest (such as excessive eye candy and flashy window effects) matter little to me. -
I'm totally digging this. -

Here's a screen scrape (from way back - Jul 7, 2011) of my Compaq CQ62-225NR notebook (AMD Phenom II N620 Dual Core CPU, upgraded from P320 CPU), running Ubuntu Linux 10.04.2 LTS 64 bit, Gnome desktop, with the Compiz cube, Emerald theme manager, and Cairo OpenGL dock all enabled:

Since I don't like full-blown desktop environments, that's FVWM2 + Conky + Wbar + Qmmp + Trayer. The memory usage is way below 100 MB for everything and it works / loads really fast.
And yes, that's a FreeBSD system though I'm using the same under Solaris / Linux as well. -

A quick OT question, does Pop!_OS do any bettter in battery run times than other linux variants?Mr. Fox likes this. -
I am not sure on that. I basically never use battery power except when I am moving from one electrical outlet to another one, and this is the only distro I have run on this particular laptop other than about an hour of Linux Mint. That installation immediately broke when I tried to switch between graphic modes. Manually switching from NVIDIA to Intel made it unbootable and I could not figure out how to recover from it. POP!_OS has built-in support for hybrid switchable graphics, so I clean installed that, then installed Cinnamon to make it more suitable to my tastes. (I don't care for Unity.)
I had run SUSE, Mint and POP!_OS on the HP ZBook 15, but never compared battery life between the distros for the reason mentioned. I always run everything full blast 24/7 and disable all power management features on everything, so I don't think I would get good battery life on any system.Last edited: Dec 8, 2019 -

A picture is worth 1000 words... But in this particular case, the picture is NOT work 1000 lines of poorly written Windows 10 code.

I just finished customizing my OpenSUSE Tumbleweed KDE desktop to my liking, with an emphasis on neon colors and an uncluttered desktop; with some influences from Mac OS X and Windows' Aero:
I mirrored the exact same desktop customization over to my laptop, but I took a screenshot of it on my desktop instead (pictured on the screenshot above). -
Just installed Debian on my iMac 21.5" from 2011, as the latest version of Mac OS X that is supported on it, High Sierra, will stop receiving any updates later this year.
The customization that I performed on it takes visible inspirations from Mac OS X:

After doing some tinkering in Debian on my iMac, I came to realize that a dark theme would be easier on my eyes (I have strained sight and myopia).
My new dark theme is inspired by Mac OS X, as well as by Solus Linux, and by the GitKraken Code Editor:

Been using Linux since Redhat 4.2. I've always loved the looks of OSX (MacOS) but never much cared for their lack of software (that I like) and their laptops hardware disappoints me. The aluminum case is great, but the insides are soooo fragile. That's probably just because my ToughBook is sooo tough, and rugged.
Anyway, here is my screenshot of Ubuntu 20.04 with the looks of MacOS:

Playing around with Conky. Kind of a pain in the butt to configure, but reminds me of my AIDA64 Sensor Panel.
