Sorry for this post, but I'm tired.
I have Linux/Ubuntu.
I am using FireFox.
A few weeks ago trying to view .swf in firefox has resulted in just nothing. Not a blank black nothing or a white nothing, just transparent where the player is supposed to be. Nothing is there.
Any way to fix this?
BTW, when Flash used to work it was a sluggish slide-show. It would be nice to see flash work as it was intended, on WinXP it's as smooth and fast as can be.
Thank you.

As far as i know is the fact flash has departed in most browsers.
Except Opera i think and old Internet Explorer versions.
EDIT:
I think Safari too.Last edited: Mar 19, 2019 -
Firefox no longer has the old Netscape plugin APIs that Flash Player requires. Chrome has it's own built-in Flash Player plugin for now so if you really need flash then that's the browser to use. Chromium does *not* have a Flash plugin and never will.

Using flash in 2019? It was old to use in 2015-2016. Doesn't standalone flash player work for those who really need it?

Lots of places (animations and games) require flash-player. FireFox is the browser I use.
There are still sites where you can download Flash for FireFox. I have Flash installed and updated on this system (at least that is what the Terminal tells me).
I D/L-ed the stand-alone Flash Player program, but I have to D/L the
individual .swf file from the website to play it which is very inconvenient.
Edit:
Here is someone with the exact problem (2017): https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2390707
The staff at the adobe forums are still helping people with Flash and FireFox as of 2019 it seems.
It must be some kind of update bug. All I can do is wait until it fixes itself I guess.
Thx.

Or you have less than 2 years to find a hosting service that's already abandoned Flash.
However you want to look at it. -

Then what happens to all the sites with your favorite animation or flash games??
Stupid companies moving away from things the user wants (Ex: M$ with WinXP).Vasudev likes this. -
Option 1: They can convert to open Web standards: HTML5, WebGL and WebAssembly.
Option 2: They can stop working.Vasudev likes this. -
