HD Flash support included
More battery life than an Atom powered netbooks (except for ones with big batteries and hybrid ssd/hdd systems like the 1000HE and Wind u115), cheaper, and no Windows.

I hate Adobe and I hate Broadcom. I'd rather get an Asus 1000HE than get a smartbook. Nuff said.
-
Why do you hate Adobe and broadcom anyway? -
ASUS does not hate linux...!
In fact when they pushed the first generation of EEEPC to the world, it was pre-loaded with Linux.
On the subject of Broadcom. I have to agree that it is always some kind of challenge to deal with to get Broadcom devices to work with performance to the max without better linux drivers support. -

Damn, and I really love the Asus 1000HE. I hate those guys.

Asus got burned by choosing Xandros so they are offering xp on all their new models. Can't blame them for responding to consumer demand but I wish they'd give linux a second try with ubuntu or mandriva.
Broadcomm + Adobe = fail. Broadcomm makes a good wifi card but for years they have actively ignored the consumer demand for help with developing firmware for their cards in linux. It's ridiculous. And Adobe is just plain insane.
I don't have a lot of hope for smartbooks, but maybe they can help popularize linux now that asus is off the bandwagon. But I just can't begin to get behind a product marketed by Adobe and Broadcomm. -

I was reading up on the difference between a smartbook and a netbook. I'm a Linux type of guy, and I don't want to pay much for a machine I'll only be doing simple stuff on. Smartbook seems the way to go. I'm looking to get a boxee or hulu desktop set top and hook it up to the TV and get a smartbook to use for my non video related stuffs.
Smartbooks featuring linux coming soon
