How would I go about installing Kali without wiping my Windows 10 OS?

You could try following these instructions: http://docs.kali.org/installation/dual-boot-kali-with-windows

HOWEVER: Please read the document "Should I Use Kali Linux?"

    http://docs.kali.org/introduction/should-i-use-kali-linux

Are you a professional penetration tester and/or security specialist? If not then I recommend a general purpose Linux distribution such as: Ubuntu, Mint, Debian, Fedora, Slackware, etc. (I am particularly fond of Mint; give it a try!)

@ArmaniDiamonds I run Kali from a tiny USB flash drive - good enough if you only need it occasionally.

This is what you should do @ArmaniDiamonds

It is not recommended to install it on your laptop, especially if it is for your programming class.

Kali in a virtual machine is supported, and you can download the VMware images here: https://www.kali.org/downloads/

Your question "does that sound good to do?" is too vague. You mentioned this is for a class. What is the assignment, exactly? Have you asked your teacher for advice? Most colleges and universities have "office hours" where you can meet with the professor or TA.

I haven't started Just yet. I wanna play with and learn without destroying my computer. I played with it a little on VMware already. I'm taking spring and summer classes. But my CS classes start in fall since my major is economics.

If just playing on your own a VM is fine. Just do not become too invested in it. It is likely the course will have other requirements.

@ArmaniDiamonds: If you have newer hardware say Skylake and above, just disable secure boot and let it install in EFI mode. There are some devices like audio from creative which requires non signed binaries to work.
