When I'm in Vista and perform a reboot I experience no noise coming from the speakers. When I reboot from linux the speakers make this loud static pop. I'm guessing it is caused by power cutting off before the speakers have a chance to turn off.

Is there a way to fix this?

I remember you asking this once before. I get it too sometimes resuming from standby, but it's not consistent so I have no clue really ;)

I only remember ur old thread because I've never found a solution and it's annoying :(

Only happens occasionally, it seems to have gotten better (maybe?) with ALSA 1.0.20.

Wait, you guys use Alsa? I used to use Alsa. I remember that pop. Make the switch to PulseAduio and forget the audio crackle. Shame on you guys for using Alsa.

Calvin, I read Alsa is best for gaming. Pulse can cause issues in games so thats why I dont use it and set my audio settings for Alsa.

Have you tried alsamixer? Mute off all the aux and internal speakers
