Check out this page, in the HOWTO section there are 4 steps:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=1554&iTestingId=39956
You'll want to also run this command so that the fonts on your buddy list and other places show up correctly:
Code:sh winetricks tahoma

becuase in IE downlaod doesn't start and in firefox It says it can't find file when i run the command when the msi is on my desktop...

-
You can do it from regular FireFox. Make sure you use the correct caps - everything is case sensitive. You can also try right clicking the file and hitting open with Wine.
Oh and a word of warning: Steam does not play well with Compiz (the "Extra" graphical effects). All the Windows will be transparent, so you want to disable Compiz when you play. You can also configure Wine to ignore the window decorations of Compiz that make it not work, but I don't remember how. -
do i just install it in c:/program files/steam?
it said i can not install to root directory when i hit the install button -
A few things to note:
1. I have always had anti-aliasing problems with my graphic cards, aka none.
2. I don't know if it was ever fixed, but I don't believe voice chat works in any steam game.
3. You'll probably get random crashes. -
yea i changed my mind
im just going to stick to windows for gaming lol
