The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Suse Studio; configure a SuseLinux distro exactly as you want

    OpenSuse has started a new project called Suse Studio.

    They call it a linux appliance (e.g. distro) construction kit.
    It's a web hosted way to create you own OpenSuse linux distro just the way you want.
    Whether you need a linux webserver or a light distro to run of a USB stick, a Live CD/DVD, Gnome or KDE, you can add the components you want to the 'base system', just to your liking.

    You'll have 15GB online storage to build and test different versions before actually downloading, burning/installing them on your notebook.

    This project is in alpha fase and open to a limited number of subscribers.
