This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Switching keyboard layouts

    If there's one thing that bothers me more, it's that Gnome's handling of layout switching is horrendous. I personally use the Dvorak layout, so I add a second layout that follows the qwerty style so when my friends are over, they can use the keyboard as usual as well.

    But, not all the layout switching works. Like 'pressing both Alt keys together' never worked for me. And after a while the qwerty one, named "USA" in the keyboard settings would become "USAz" and it'll be all weird.

    Is it me doing something wrong? Because I'm pretty annoyed that Windows can do this much better than Gnome can.
