This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Anyone else notice you can configure the 14" widescreen T61s with SUSE Linux? It's a $119 saving over Home Premium. That's much better than the $30 you save on Dell's Latitudes with FreeDOS, It doesn't seem like you can get it with the Penryn CPUs, but that's probably not a huge deal. Also the card reader doesn't seem to be an option. You can get a decent configuration for like $830 plus tax of course. It seems it's only an option on the 14" widescreens right now, but hopefully they'll spread this option across the line to include the R and X series. I'm almost tempted to buy, but my R60 is coming along nicely.

    Yes, indeed, it's a money saver option. But I would like it available on all other ThinkPads.
