Need a little help. I have basically settled on the T61 14" thinkpad, but can't decide between the nvidia or Intel graphics card.
I will basically be using laptop for office applications/browser/coding (no gaming), but also dual boot vista/ubuntu with 3D desktop Beryl/Compiz. I don't mind the extra $ for the nvidia but am a little worried about the depleted battery life. Any suggestions?
also, what is the best deal going now on the thinkpads, SPP?
Thanks...

I am not sure how much battery life you will lose with the Nvidia card. What are the requirements for the 3D Stuff you are going to do? Try an Internet search and see if anyone is running it with an integrated video card.

thanks Chaz,
My 3D requirements are just to run the Beryl/Compiz desktop in Linux, nothing more. -

I don't know much about Linux so I would suggest asking in the Linux forum here. I can move this thread over there of you want.
The GMA X3100 has no problem running Vista's Aero interface if that is any help. -
yeah, go ahead and move forum.. thanks

Yeah, the X3100 will run Compiz Fusion perfectly fine. But the Quadro will help for 3D things, in case you get into WoW or something.

As long as you're not doing anything beyond the eye-candy, I think the X3100 should be alright. I know that I've seen weaker systems handle it, but they have mature drivers. I'm not familiar with the status of the driver, but I'll know in a week or so I hope. =)
