Hey guys, I'm running a Toshiba Satellite A105.
It has an Intel Celeron 1.6Ghz processor
X200M ATI Radeon
Atheros Wireless Card
Is there a linux distro that can run on it? I tried installing Red Hat 9 and SuSE (older version I don't remember which) and neither would work. Red Hat would say it didn't detect a hard drive and SuSE would just freeze.
I also tried running d***smalllinux and KnoppiXMAME and both would freeze at bootup during the hardware detection.
I'm looking for a Linux distro that will force me to relearn how to use the comp. I also have a C++ Programing hobby... so.
Not really worried about games, I've just about given up on my X200M, plus now I have a Satellite Internet Connection and it's not good for gaming.
So anyone got any advice or anyone ever tried to run linux on a Satelite A105?

I like Unbuntu, but I have not tried it on a Toshiba.

I don't see that particular model listed on the Ubuntu Laptop Testing Team page, but give Ubuntu a try. It runs as a live CD, so you'll know if it will work with your notebook before you actually install it onto the hard disk. There are other live CDs you can try, but I suggest giving Ubuntu a try, first. It has a huge, very active community.
Toshiba Satellite linux compatiable?
