Could you give us more information? What is the error, or does it just freeze?

When you boot the LiveCD, press F6 to add options to the end of your boot line. Add the following: noacpi

To make it permanent on a Linux install, open a terminal and type:

    sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst

At the end of the line for the default kernel, add the same option. Save and close.
