This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     USB support dies on me!

    so im using mint. on an IBM x31.
    and the USB has died on me.....ive looked things up...and googled it all up...but nothing has worked or been effective.

    im still getting used to terminal but im great at following instructions.

    ok..when i plug a usb device in. be it external HDD, usb flash drive..anything...it finds it...but it wont mount it.

    any help would muchos appreciated!!

    it looks like mint just doesn't want to auto-mount your devices. follow these instructions and see if they'll help you out
