This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Ubuntu 12.04 locks up with specific software open

    Friends, My D610 is locking up when I have Ubuntu Software Center Open, then open Dash Home. The mouse moves, but the entire Keyboard is unresponsive. Also I can not right or left click on anything (unresponsive). I have to press the power button to shutdown which I am sure is not good for the OS.

    I fixed this by a clean install, but I was connected to the internet as I installed (I was not connected on previous attempts). I did all updates + was up and running in about 1 hour -- -GOOD stuff
