Hi guys! Thank you all for this forum! I'm having a problem with my compal HEL80 with a T7200 C2D. I'm running vista on it and it's sweet! Fast and cool laptop! But I've installed Ubuntu 6.10 to give it a try and I realize that my intel wireless device is not recognized, along with bluetooth, fingerprint, etc. I really need to have internet in order to continue using Ubuntu. Does anyone have a FAQ or a HowTo to solve this? I'm a complete newbie!

    Thank you all!! :)

there should be a guide on installing network-manager.. should work out of the box with your intel network card. I thought network manager was default on 6.10... I know it is for 7.04...

I'm moving your question to the Linux forum, where I think you will get better, more tailored responses.

All you need to do is install network manager. Go to a terminal (Accessories->Terminal) and type
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install network-manager-gnome
and then reboot. It should work, but if not, let us know here. You may have to change access in Networking options.

Doubt it. Bluetooth modules aren't well supported by Linux AFAIK. It's not a matter of installing software to make it work; it's a matter of the hardware manufacturer not supporting Linux.

There are a few "complete" listings of what works and doesn't work in Linux on the HEL80, use the search feature and you should be able to find them, I know of atleast one entire thread that was on the Compal forum.

I agree Intel wireless should work out of the box. All you need is to use the network manager to choose the WLAN you want to connect to.
