No, it's just announced
Intrepid Ibex is actually coming out next, Ubuntu 8.10
Can't wait to see if my laptop breaks
-
I was going to say, I think we're skipping intrepid aren't we? haha.
Strange names though, don't you think?

It is coming, just going to be a while
. I didn't forget about 8.10 coming next month.
-
wikipedia states its meant to have a decreased boot time when compared to previous generations..... sounds gd...

I'm thinking of installing 8.04 onto my spare harddrive just for the heck of it.
-
go for it ....
i cant really be bothered myself until 8.1 comes out... -
8.10 looks to have some really good changes to it. But nothing that really makes me want to down load it the day it comes out. Still going to install it on me laptop, after i ghost an image
-
Intrepid Ibex...that would be cool if they improved on Hardy.

I'll probably stick with Gnome for awhile, but will have to try KDE as well sometime, I suppose.
-
I'm pretty excited about 8.10. I have some new hardware that needs support!
-
i really hope this one doesnt break my G9 mouse again.. im sick of 7.10

Also, OpenSuse 11 and Fedora 10 coming soon too! And probably a new Mint!
OpenSuse 11 looks good, except when I tried 10, I didn't like KDE too much:

Fedora 10:

Have you tried the latest 8.04 updates? I know they've made lots of changes to the xorg server. I only have a G5, so I don't know what broke. What's the G9 do?
-
Funny, I used OpenSuSE 10 before. I like the look of my KDE desktop a lot better than the Gnome one I got by default in Ubuntu 8.04. Oh well.

Choices are good
-
no, i tried it when it first came out and the G9 buttons wouldnt work even with the custom configurations so i gave up and went back to 7.10. I also tried fedora 9 but that was a complete mess...
im hoping that the new version will work because im finding 7.10 to be quite unstable lately, or even if the new fedora works. 7.10 is so old already
-
Any idea when Intrepid will be released? Sometime next month right?
-
I want to try Slackware or Arch at some point...
-
You should try downloading an 8.04.1 LiveCD and see if it works better for you. I'd bet they've fixed a lot... I've noticed a lot of updates have really helped issues I had early on. Now I'm down to crap like the VPN connection killing knetworkmanager and so one, stuff no one apparently cares or knows about.

I will probably stay on 8.04 until the next LTS, 10.04, as shown here.
-
The name really sounds like jauniced jackalope...
-
I wonder what they'll use for K...

Aha! Apparently I'm not creative enough to realize that there are, in fact, some animals whose names start with K
-
Kingly Koala
Kinky Kestrel
Kaleidoscopic Kingfisher*
* - I kinda like this one. -
They've got lots of code names to choose from, and the community provides suggestions
-
