This is very good news indeed. This bug is quite scary and i was reading about it Friday. I was going to post about it as a warning. The bug can actually damage the ethernet card that is using this driver, in some cases(not just loss of network connectivity). The bug can reck the firmware of the card. In that case the machine would have to be sent to the factory to reflash the card's firmware(unless you have a copy).

Yeah, it really really sucks. Especially since my Atheros wireless hardware is going through some transitional issues as far as drivers go.

Intel's kernel devs say they're working on a tool to fix damaged hardware. Unfortunately, if you don't have an 'ethtool -e' dump, you'll need one from identical hardware. Anyone with an X61s type 7668-CTO want to help me out with an nvram dump?
