Jaunty is in Alpha... meaning it's not at all ready for public use. Alpa is pre beta.

I know Gnome and KDE are updated to the latest versions, which means KDE 4.2, don't remember the gnome version. You can also install it on ext4 partitions :)

Well I've been on Ubuntu 9.04 A3 for a while now and it seems very solid for an alpha release, fixes some issues from 8.10, though there are a few bugs of course they seemed to have slowly worked themselves out.

    It's a Dell 1501. So it's probably a 160Gb 5400RPM

Jaunty comes with Open Office 3 and faster boot/response. I'm sure there are a lot more coming up though.

That doesn't help much since (I assume) most of us here on NBR have done upgrades, so what's to say he hasn't upgraded it.

However, if that's true, that's insane.

EDIT: I just reinstalled Ibex the other day, I just might have to wipe it and try out JJ.

It's actually a 60GB 5400RPM drive not very big and It's pretty slow.
    It's also only ext3, I didn't care to go ext4 haha.
Everything starts up faster, not just the boot, I'll try to explain what I see when I see the boot bar.
I see it going back and forth for about 3 seconds, then it starts building out of 100, and it's done in about 5 seconds or so.

That's amazing, I'll have to install it later today and test drive it.
(To think, I'll only have pre-release OSes on my comp then)

You're right, this thing is a speed demon.

EDIT: I now only have beta/alpha OSes on my laptop (yes, I have a relatively new backup).
