Can someone help me install ubuntu on my x201? I've tried 10.04 alternative install and put in a newer kernel (2.6.33) and when I try to boot up, I still get a black screen. When I try to install an updated xorg driver (xf-video-intel), I get a bunch of dependency errors. The other x201/Linux thread didn't really have any helpful info.

    Hi there,
would help, if you were more specific.
    1. the ubuntu you try to install is the final release on 10.04?
    2. how do you install the xf-video-intel if you got a black screen? Different runlevel without X?
    3. what kind of VGA you got? I see it's intel, but ...?

Have you tried the solution discussed in this ubuntuforum thread?

"When the grub menu loads (you need to hold shift after the bios screen), I select my kernel image and press 'e' to edit the boot parameters. At the end of the line beginning with "Linux" I append the option "i915.modeset=0". Turns out I can omit the "xforcevesa" option.
    ...
To install 10.04 from the regular livecd you will have to similarly modify the boot parameters of the installation media. I believe I did this by pressing F6 and then Esc from the live cd main menu."
