What's a good laptop for a Linux (Ubuntu) Server ?
-
Why would you want to run the server edition off of a laptop?
The only benefits you'd gain from the server version all require the computer to stay put, and usually you'd want to take the laptop with you.
Other than that though, I've run Ubuntu on two Toughbook CF-28s, and an HP nc6400, and it worked great on all three. Ubuntu is very good at installing on almost any hardware. -
The main difference with the standard edition is that you can have a LAMP server ready to go (Apache, MySQL and PHP).
Do you need that? -
I kind of agree with the question why? But I have it running on 2 different sony laptops, a toshiba, and a clevo 901C. It has worked out of the box on all 4 of mine without issues. I did have a small thing with the battery on my small sony but it corrected itself after a few charges. I hadn't used in a month or so and I think the battery was a bit stale.
