Hey all I have a Lenovo T61p with Vista business 64 on it. I wanted to dual boot Ubuntu with Vista so I tried to install it. It goes through then at the end sayd something about graphic error and must exit. I really want to put Linux on my computer, even though I need Autocad for Architecture. thanks for the help

Well, when does it happen, and what does the error say? What version did you try?
-
I tried the Ubuntu version from their website so 8.10 i think. It's hard to exactly say what is said since there is a bunch of letters/numbers that are distorted all around the screen at that time.

Do you have a discrete graphics card or just plain Intel integrated? I had a difficult time installing Ubuntu on my T42 because the resolution was messed up on the install. You might want to try Wubi to install Ubuntu because you install it from Windows.

Yeap. Try re-burning the iso at the slowest speed.. then check the md5sum.

I tried 8.04 and still nothing. I'm using a CD from Linux themselves. Could it be that I need a x64 version of Ubuntu since my graphic drivers are?

TRy alt install media do text mode install
also seen some desktop broad that have issues with lock up 64 bit build bios update fix most them -
How do i do alt install media by text mode?
-
No, no... I have the exact same laptop as you (see sig.), and 7.10, 8.04, 8.10 all work fine. There's something else that's wrong.
What's the output from your error? -
What kind of gfx do you have? I assume it's not integrated since you're running Autocad. And it shouldn't matter whether you install the 32-bit version or 64-bit.
Ubuntu a no go for me =(
