I am a noob to Ubuntu 8.10 (64 bit) and have tried using Wine to install Enterprise 2007. I find that Wine is hard to figure out and have seen guides on having to change dlls, etc. Is there an easier way?

Plus, how do you get dvds to play? and tv tuners?

    Thanks.

    well, first thing to remember...
linux is NOT free, opensource windows...

enterprise 2007 may not even be compatible with wine, nor run perfectally.
    I recommend trying open office...

next, you should just pop the dvd in, then open up the player included with ubuntu.

As for the tv tuner, you are going to have to look for drivers/software, and see if yours is even supported.

Reading the stickies on this forum will definitely bring you the answers to your questions. It helped me a bunch when I was a newbie, so hopefully that'll happen the same for you.
I also want to point out that Linux is not Windows. Stick with Windows if you don't like the way Linux does things, but if you do, take your time and try to learn from a word to word.

    Good luck.

If you want to pay extra money, look at Crossover Pro. Enterprise will definetly work.

You need to download some of the Gstreamer codec packs. Open synaptic and search for gstreamer. Get pretty much all of them.

DVD issue: or install VLC or mplayer

TV Tuners: You can check the MythTV wiki to see if your tv tuner is supported. There are other places to get tv tuner information if you Google around.
