I dont think anyone can comment as of yet. I dont think theyve even started shipping the HDX16

In my opinion some of the features/parts wont be supported.

My HP dv2500 was fully supported out of the box. I was quite suprised at how easy going it was compared to windows.

That's why I linked to the HP Store - to view the specs of the machine.

The only thing I felt may pose a problem is the wireless but, silly me (searched here after posting) found at least one post that claimed the 5400 worked with Linux.

On edit: My apologies, it wasn't specified that this card worked with Linux. Here is the thread I found in that earlier search. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=290457

The TV tuner and HDMI probably won't work. The 9600M GT will be supported by the mainstream nvidia-glx driver when Intrepid Ibex comes out. Wireless might not work out-of-the-box in Heron, either; but it should be OK when Ibex is released.

I appreciate your time Bog. I'm second guessing the HDX ATM as it is overkill for my purposes.

Felt like a kid in a candy store after finding the 500 off 1400 or more coupon.

Need to spend some time cruising the Linux forum here and see what other members have listed in their sigs.

    Thanks again!

Go for a Thinkpad, they're amazing. I'm getting one soon to replace the HP in my sig.

I had been considering a T61. The consensus seems to be that the build quality and support help justify the price difference.
