I'm thinking of picking up an HP Mini 210 with the dual core Atom and GMA 3150,

Anyone tried Ubuntu on this machine? How is it?

A friend on mine moved to Ubuntu two months ago or so. She installed 11.04 in her Asus Eee PC 1000H (or HE). Everything works fine and she finds it fast enough.

I had pretty that setup in my previous netbook, and it worked flawless out of the box with every distro. It also had an Atheros wireless card that needed kernel version 2.6.39 or higher because of a bug with 2.6.38-x and the driver.

    Besides that it was perfect.

I have a Gateway LT2104u w/ Atom 450 and have been testing both Ubuntu 11.04 and Kubuntu 11.04 (both LIVE USB) and they run great. I will be installing one or the other shortly.

I'm very interested in this Netbook mainly because of the dual-core Atom and 720p HD screen. Running Ubuntu on that would be great.

I currently have an HP Mini 2102 running Ubuntu 11.04. Other than it being a little slow, and the 1024x600 screen, it's not bad. The Mini 210 would be a good upgrade.

This is what I am looking for, mainly.

Do hot keys work? Do LAN and WiFi work? How is graphics performance? Are there any special things needed to be done in order to get working properly?

I don't know at the moment as I have sent that netbook in to get the screen replaced under warranty last Friday and should have it back in about a week or two. I won't notice full compatibility until I install it on the hard drive. Even on the USB it ran circles around Windows 7 Starter(biggest piece of crap). I will do dual boot when it comes back and let you know.
I have installed Ubuntu 11.04 on my MX6920 that has the T2050 dual core and it flies now. Night and day vs. Win Xp. :D
**EDIT**- Most of the fn buttons on the MX6920 seem to work fine. The ones that don't are the numerical keypad. As far as WLAN and LAN, it worked right out of the box. DVD wouldn't decode the movie I stuck in, so I downloaded a decoder from the Ubuntu store and it works fine. Sound, brightness, worked.

Everything except the clickpad on my Mini 2102 works perfectly out of the box in Ubuntu 11.04.

I'm hoping that come 11.10, everything will work out of the box for the Mini 210.

Who is your touchpad manufacturer - Synaptic mostly ? There should be some specific settings you can add to xorg.conf to customize it which sometimes get left out between successive version of distros... I've had problems with accidental drag lock getting enabled in openSUSE 11.3, but not the case with 11.2 or 11.4. I fixed in 11.3 by adding an extra directive in xorg.conf.

Search in Ubuntu forums and you should be able to find out this setting. One other thing you can do yourself is - note down the xorg.conf in your current Ubuntu somewhere. Install the previous version where you didn't have any problem and check the xorg.conf there. If you compare I'm sure you'll be able to identify this directive.

So far 11.04 is the only version I've loaded on this netbook.

I'll look around that .conf file and see what I can figure out. I'll report back with my findings.

    Thanks for the tip!

Now that you mention it, the touchpad on both my netbook and MX6920 didn't work quite right after initial install, it wasn't until I rebooted that they worked correctly and make sure you update as I believe there are 2 update packages that I was notified about. Hope this helps.

The touchpad works remarkably well except for two things:

    1) Physical right click (can use two-finger tap)
    2) Click and drag

Other than that, every works well. Scrolling, left click, etc.
