Do you play any game which is worth to consider in Linux? I just play PokerTH (available through Synaptics), and really liking it. It lets you play in single mode (vs computer) or online; nice little program.

Teeworlds - free online multiplay game. Fun and very fast paced.

Frozen Bubble - Kind of like tetris or bejewled. Has the most relaxing music of any game I have played :)

Thanks guys, I'll give them a try (specially to Doom 3, brings me some memories...). Is there any good racing game out there? Cars, not bikes.

Beyond the typical online flash games out there... no, Linux is very limited in terms of games.

Sauerbrauten, Nexuiz, Assault Cube (uses same Cube engine as Sauerbrauten), Shogo, Tux Racer, Tux Cart, Alien Assualt to name a few Linux games.

It might be limited in that it does not have thousands of titles made exclusively for it, but there are more games available to people than just flash games thats for sure.

There is also Wine/Cedega/Crossover Games for running Windows based games, some of which do run flawlessly with little or no tweaking to get to run. World of Warcraft springs to mind here - I even get better fps playing under wine in Ubuntu that I do with Windows..lol

Have a look at a few of the following sites for more Linux gaming information:

    http://happypenguin.org/

    http://www.tuxgames.com/

    http://tombuntu.com/index.php/2008/09/02/playdeb-the-gaming-repository-for-ubuntu/

    https://wiki.ubuntu.com/GamingTeam/

and so on and so forth.

Nope its not Windows when it comes to 'proper' gaming, but there are more than enough games in Linux to keep most people happy :D

Any mainstream Linux that supports X and hardware acceleration should do it. Then using Wine/Cedega will help a lot with propriety games.
