ew
mauve is not an improvement on brown methinks -
Looks a lot like the colors I would change it to after installing it.
-
Comeon at least it looks better than BROWN.
It is beginning to look like OS X + Brown Icons. -
Improvement IMHO
-
doesn't look bad..like it better than the brown..
but i'd def. still change it..hehe

It totally looks similar to the default OS X theme to me. I like purple, it's probably a step in the right direction, a bit easier on the eyes.
-
I'm liking it!
EDIT: I know Apple's probably patented the hell out of the specific order of the window control icons when they are placed on the left side of the window, but I'm gonna be confused every time I go to close a window and it maximizes due to the placement of the close button as last. Muscle Memory FTL! -
Next thing to change: The Name
Ubuntu doesn't have a nice ring to it. -
Thank god for Nodoka-silver tarballs (+ echo icon set).
Still, purple is somewhat less hideous than brown. -
sooooo two new themes and they both use the same icons ? plus no changes on nautilus ? are they scared of the change ? and becoming something different even the icons used from another theme :/

I don't think you can patent icon can you?
Especially when the bluetooth symbol is universal.
I don't mind the icon ripoff personally. -
Okay, purple. Not that bad, now let's see some proper fonts. But that would be a CHANGE and it probably will never happen unless i start my own distro at some point.
-
Okay...maybe that's putting it a bit strongly. -
I think that panel is nice.
Since Karmic the icons are simplified which IMO is better. -
-
I don't mind those icons. Karmic offers something similar and I've gotten used to them.
I still prefer brown though. -

Do I choose Intel x86 or AMD x64 if I have an Intel and prefer to use the 64-bit architecture? -

Is this look for the Ubuntu 9.10 or Xubuntu 10.04?
-

Once I get my laptop I'm throwing on an ubuntu copy on my secondary HDD. Definitely will avoid anything reminiscent of OS X. I hate OS X so much that I use windows on my macs ^.^
-
On topic though, I've been an Ubuntu user since '05 and I must say, this is going to be a bit easier on the eyes. The brown was starting to get annoying and boring. -
This looks great, and I cannot wait til the final version comes out! April 29th here it comes.

I'm using Ambiance on my Karmic system...and man, it's amazing, much better than Human ever was.
-
I like it! Granted, the purplish - brown isn't too much better.
Wonder if it's still going to be small to install ... -
-
I know this a little off-topic, but why start a new thread when I can ask a question regarding the topic being discussed here. Anywho, is it possible, as of yet, to install Ubuntu 10.04 in Wubi? Just a question, if not, doesn't matter, I can wait til the Final.

Looks very feminine
-
Not that there is anything wrong with commenting on it, however, I can not imagine something that matters so little to me as what color the original desktop ships with! I mean it is very easily changed.
As a new Ubuntu user, I would be a lot more interested in hearing the improvements this version comes with. -

Despite the obvious fact that its pulling UI designs off Apple, I like it.
But Ubuntu developers better be sure that its legal. -
I would prefer more transparency! And for goodness sake, allow me to move the window buttons (my family loves the "X" button) to the right side a la Windows (via a menu). They may revolt otherwise...

I could only imagine what shananigans they are coming up with for the right side of windows. Maybe it could be a "press me to rule the world!" button. Or maybe a little more rationally they could use it sort as a notification area or toolbar. Say, if you have rhythmbox open and a some play, stop, pause, buttons show up on every window header for quick access. My two cents
Ubuntu has a New Look
