Hi, I just upgraded from 8.04 to 8.1 and I seem to be having some issues with my keyboard and mouse. I am able to use my keyboard during the log in screen, but after that my keyboard stops working. Also, I am unable to click with my mouse on the applications, places, system menus (The menus are highlighted but I cannot click on them).

Also, whenever I set my laptop to mute and restart it, the volume gets turned up to the max. This makes the intro music really loud and disruptive when I use it in the library. Any idea on how I can fix this?

    Thank you for your help

The laptop I'm using is a dell Inspiron 9300.
