With this processor i can't install ubuntu 14.04 LTS but with the previus one (Intel Celeron M540) it was good. Why i cant have the latest release with the pentium?Isn't this doual core CPU supposed to be better than the single core celeron?

What is the specific error or problem you are presented with while trying to install?
Are you sure you are using the correct (i386) installer image? -
installer image, what do you mean?please be more precise.
Well,I boot from the CD and when it shows the small icon on the bottom of the screen I hit the spacebar. Then i choose the language and after this i choose install. Then i wait and it shows the black screen with the underscore on top.after this I wait but the only thing i get is black screen with underscore. -

Installer images are files that get burned to a CD. There are ones for different CPU architectures and flavors of ubuntu.
For example, when you go to the download page, there is a drop-down menu with 3 choices: Download Ubuntu Desktop | Download | Ubuntu
32-bit, 64-bit, 64-bit Mac
The 32-bit one is the one you need for your CPU. -
I tried both 32 an 64 bit.no result in the end.
At intel's site it says that Pentium T4500 is 64-bit processor!
I'm veeeery confused...-.- -

Ah, sorry yeah it is a 64-bit CPU
-
pffff...:/
any idea what is going on?
:/ -
From the main page found here: Download Ubuntu Desktop | Download | Ubuntu
Scroll down to the bottom, there are three choices depending on what system you currently are using. Assuming you are currently using Ubuntu, click on that bottom left link and go from there...
Basically you can either upgrade or download the iso (image) to your download folder, and then either use your system dvd/cd burning program and/or the usb creator in menu for ubuntu. Once you have the image, re-start system and boot with either dvd or usb in first place for boot option...:hi2: -
ok,I'll give it one more try!
I tried it...nothing at all....the same black screen with the underscore on the top....:/ -
Have you verified MD5 Hash? https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuHashes ?
Also does the computer you are installing 14.04 have a dedicated Video card or integrated graphics? -
The video card is integrated!
what is MD5 hash? -
2. MD5 hash is a way to verify the .ISO file you downloaded is not corrupt. You check the MD5 against the official MD5 listed by ubuntu.
I usually use this program: winmd5sum_portable.
you run the program, browse to the .ISO file you downloaded, then enter the official MD5 and hit compare. If they are the same, your download is good. Also when burning your .ISO to cd, use the slowest burn speed just to be safe.
Here are the ubuntu MD5 hashes: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuHashes
Code:dccff28314d9ae4ed262cfc6f35e5153 ubuntu-14.04-desktop-amd64.iso (64bit) c4d4d037d7d0a05e8f526d18aa25fb5e ubuntu-14.04-desktop-i386.iso (32bit)

Maybe X isn't working correctly? Try hitting Ctrl+Alt+F1 when you get to the blinking screen and then see if it gives you a prompt. If you can, try running:
Code:cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep EE | less
-
Well,I tried but nonthing....i think I'll try again in a couple of weeks....I have to study now...
Thanks guys,I'm very happy you tried to help me!

There are some tips here: system installation - My computer boots to a black screen, what options do I have to fix it? - Ask Ubuntu

I did it!At the installation screen (after choosing language) I chose the third one after pressing f6 (i can't remember what it was) and it worked!
-
Glad you got it working.
So are you switchcing to linux, just trying out, updating to a new version?
I ask out of curiosity. I myself am moving (almost done) back to linux as my primary OS and keeping Windows in a VM or (gasp) bootable for those few apps (mostly legacy apps written FoxPro) that refuse to play nice in WINE. I currently am using Linux Mint 16 KDE release and it rocks. Yes I know I could use Arch, or Sabayon, or Gentoo or Crunchbang or Scientific OS, or...you get the idea. I like Linux Mint though. Works out of the box, handles 99% of my needs and is pretty customizable with the added bonus of not having to be all super geeky and install from CLI as some distro's deman to prove your geek enough to handle their OS. I do IT 10 hours a day, I don't have time for that. -
Well,I do not use windows anymore.Ubuntu was the distro I heard about first so I tried with the first chance.I really like it!Ubuntu is very good up until now!
But I wont stick with this. When I'll have time I'll check other distros too!
But i think that the best part of linux is the variety of distros.you can choose everything you like and I really like Ubuntu!
Hey boys!I just found out that when using nolapic mode (the one I chose) for booting the computer uses only one core!
What about the other? How do I make it work again?Does anybody know? -

You can't with nolapic, it's a blunt hammer for fixing problems. Try using other boot options to pinpoint the source of the problem. Have you tried acpi=off?
