I'm making the switch to Ubuntu and am purchasing a new computer. I was wondering if there were any known major issues with the newer sager models (specifically np 5793/5796 or 9262). I need a new laptop bad but don't want to get one that isn't going to fit my needs and won't run Ubuntu/linux. Any thoughts/help that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Note that the PC I but will not be coming with any OS on it at all and will be drivers only.

From a quick glance at the specs it looks pretty normal in terms of chipsets... all that stuff is supported. The only probems you may run into are things needing tweaking out of the box. But that'll depend on the distribution you choose. Ubuntu tends to be pretty well configured by default. The best thing to do is to search around for the specific chipsets and devices on linux forums to see if there are howto guides or any unresolved problem threads specific to them. Unless someone here has experience with those models it's going to be hard to give a definitive answer in terms of total support out of the box or whether it's going to involve some tweaking. But the hardware in those models is pretty much supported across the board from what I can tell. Best of luck!

To my recollection, there are a number of Clevo/Sager owners running one linux variant or another on their systems without any significant issues (just the normal sort of tweaking issues ALLurGroceries mentioned).

I thought I had heard something about the 9800 cards being troublesome, but the problem was fixable.

Because that's not an issue for most people. It only seems to affect certain driver packages. I don't have a problem with my 9700M and it's basically the same GPU minus a few pipelines. -
maybe? I know I read that thread, so that might have put the thought into my head.
