    It's technically unfair to compare OS X To Ubuntu i386 Edition, so you should compare it to the 64 bit edition. OS X is a hybrid of sorts of 32 bit and 64 bit apparently. Ubuntu 64 seems to be faster or at least comparable down to just a few test. It should be noted that OS X is optimized for just a few sets of hardware, while Ubuntu supports loads of hardware.

    I wonder how Jaunty vs. OS X will do?

    That test is really old. (November '08)
    Anyways, 64-bit Ubuntu beats Mac OS in basically all tests (gaming benches don't count at all since both systems aren't built to game) except for a few anomalies.

    I'd also like to see how Jaunty does... maybe I'll DL the beta and see how that goes.
