This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Undervolting in debian or ubuntu ?

    yeah, i use NHC in windows too, and i'm getting similar battery life when i use the default ubuntu installation (frequency scaled to lowest of course). And I guess I'm pretty happy with that, because 1GHZ is more than enough to run ubuntu :D whereas for windows... might become choppy, might not.

    1Ghz in core duo ? pfft.
    I'm running windows right now, prime95 is running, firefox is there, and I've restricted the pentium M speed to 600Mhz.

    Sysem is still very responsive, no lags etc.

    Same was true in debian. I could play full screen avi videos at SXGA+ at 600Mhz.

    Yeah, but my ubuntu only lets me go down to 1GHz (or more accurately 996MHz) as the lowest step for gnome-applet. And as of now, 3h is pretty good for me. :)
