I do want to thank you guys for really helping me so far on Ubuntu problems since I' am new to this system still. But I have another problem and that is how do I update the video driver to the latest since WoW is kinda laggy even on low settings. I use to get more FPS on WoW on low settings on Win 7 with the latest driver from Intel. But seems like Ubuntu is different and I don't think I can use Intel drivers to update the Intel HD video card. I have the first generation Intel HD card. I did use this link and I thought it would update the video card. I got this link when I tried installing Steam it said it recommends me having it so I can get the latest drivers for my video card.

    "deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates/ubuntu precise main"

Basicly I added this link to the software update where you update Ubuntu and I thought it would update the video card to latest but it didn't really update much since before and after is the same. Also for my netbook I have a Intel GMA 950 card and I want to update that video card also it also has Ubuntu.

    Thanks

The intel graphics drivers ship and are packaged with the kernel, so you would be looking for a newer kernel and x.org stack. These can be tricky to upgrade past the stack that comes with your distro out of the box.

You might want to consider upgrading to Raring: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RaringRingtail/TechnicalOverview

It's in its final beta stage, and it will be officially released on the 24th of April.

WoW will pretty much always run like crap through wine unless you have a newer intel chip, and even then you have to tweak it.

Gaming with wine is more suited to nvidia and ati graphics cards with proprietary drivers installed. Think of it this way, if your (fully optimized) windows intel drivers can barely squeak out a few smooth frames, on a much less optimized graphics stack using wine you are going to have a bad time.

All of the above is why people are so excited about things like Steam coming to Linux with native ports that are fully optimized.

So are you saying I should upgrade to Ubuntu 12.10? I have the stable version now of Ubuntu. Or should I wait till the new 13.04 comes out? Since that site just showed me about upgrading to 13.04 but that hasen't came out yet. But there is the 12.10 now but should I get that?

I think I' am on 12.04 since I think that was the stable one. It's whatever one that is stable on Ubuntu website now that you can download. I' am pretty sure it was 12.04. I did download all of the latest updates for the 12.04 version.

If you want to upgrade to 13.04 you should first upgrade to 12.10 if you are on 12.04.

I tried to boot from usb flash driver but it doesn't load. I did set the boot process to boot from usb hdd but it doesn't work. I was able to install Ubuntu from cd before and i wanted to try with usb hdd then I don't waste blank dvds disks. I did copy the entire files I downloaded and basic put all of the extracted files into the flash drive.

Actualy doing the upgrade messed up my OS and now it won't boot to desktop anymore. I will need to install a clean installation but as I said how do I boot from USB HDD so I can run setup without having to put the CD in? Were you just suppose to copy all of the files that been extracted and put them on the flash drive? I did do that and reboot the system and the setup didn't apprear like it's suppose to. If I have no choice I will have to burn them on a DVD disk so I can install the latest version.

Are you sure in order to install the 13.04 I have to have the 12.10? Can't you upgrade any version to 13.04 when that version comes out? Basicly are you not able to go from 12.04 to 13.04? It has to be 12.10 to 13.04? I thought someone said on Ubuntu forums that the 12.04 can be upgraded to 13.04.

You can't just copy the files to a USB flash dirve, as you have discovered.

I know of two methods for making a bootable Ubuntu USB Flash Drive.

Linux Method: If you have an Ubuntu Linux installation CD kicking around, such as your 12.04 installion CD, you just boot to that, and then find and run the "Startup Disk Creator" Then all you need to do is point this program to your flash drive, and tell it which Ubuntu Linux .iso image you want to use.

Windows Method: You can use a program for Windows called "Universal USB Installer" from PendriveLinux.com. You find it here:
