    hey guys i'm trying out ubuntu 9.10 on my gateway P7805u however i cant seem to install my graphic drivers, anyone run into this problem?


    btw i am using VMware to use ubuntu also my graphic card is an Nvidia 9800GTS

    no hw specs, no OS specs ... ubuntu + wmvare .... who's host, who's guest?

    You are using a virtual machine, there are no drivers to install outside of the guest additions(That's what they're called in Virtualbox, can't remember about VMware).

    wow really? so only virtualbox can allow me to install drivers?

    Hi,
    if i get it ok, your linux runs as guest OS under the vmware (workstation?). What's host OS btw?
    Anyway, if you try to install nvidia vga driver into your ubuntu, it's not gonna work because in this case the vmware is actually HW for the ubuntu. The vmware acts as middleware, like a layer between the host OS and guest OS and so gives to the guest OS HW resources through standardized drivers.
    If your concern is (if i think it right) the screen resolution and performance of your guest(s) OS then install vmware tools from here:

    ah thanks, i am using window 7, there is no way to get around this? i would like to know ubuntu is fully op before i switch.
