I am trying to connect my HP 8460p with ati video card to my TV.
My TV is a 1080p Samsung (for some reason my computer things it is a Samsung Electric 7")
But the only configuration I get get is mirror. Every time I try to use the TV as an extended display I get an error.
The 3 drivers I have tried:
Built in beta one:
Lots of issues, computer screen gets crazy lines.
Built in Option 2:
Cant extend display
ATI catalyst
Same issue as option 2.
Any ideas?
I am not that experienced with Ubuntu so keeping it simple is good for me.
Edit: 12.04 LTS

Hm, no takers. What version of fglrx are you trying to run, and what video card is it?
Run this in a terminal:
Code:sudo tail -f /var/log/syslog
-
Sorry it took so long to reply.
The ATI software broke the entire OS so I had to do a fresh install. I dont know what version of the fglrx I am running... How would I check that?Attached Files:

It's been a while since I used it, but I think you can tell from fglrx-control. If you installed it from a package:
Code:dpkg-query -W fglrx
-
unknown option -w
My card is an ATI 6470m -
1. Just curious did you follow any of the instructions here: graphics - What is the correct way to install ATI Catalyst Video Drivers (fglrx)? - Ask Ubuntu ?
2. -w unknown ... I am sure you know how sensitive Linux is about capitalization
Sorry not to be of much help, but if AllUR is rated a 10 in Linux I am about a 2 -
I tried with different both capitalization's.
I remember seeing the removal of the fglrx when trying to do it the first time. But the steps I found online were no where near as long as those. -

Where did you install the drivers from?
If it was a package, try --show to find the version (no idea why -W won't work for you but it doesn't matter):
Code:dpkg-query --show fglrx
Code:dpkg-query -s fglrx
Code:dpkg-query -l fglrx
This may help

I figure a screen shot would be better than me trying to explain it.
