You would need to run an OS X VM, where can you get that free ?

Otherwise, I don't see why not just buy a copy office 2010, it is much better and run natively on W7.

Can't run OS X software without OS X installed, and installing OS X on a non-Apple machine (violation of EULA) is not something we discuss on these forums.

    ooooooh.
    Fair enough.
    Okay then, thank you!
Not wanting bad juju for installing OSX on a PC, we can forget the OS and I'll repose the question thusly:

Can I use/modify Ubuntu to or some distribution of linux to run the Office mac 08?

As far as I know you can't install office mac 08 on linux...you can use wine or crossover to install windows apps on linux though...
you can always use an alternative like openoffice or libreoffice on linux

There is Crossover Mac..yes, but that just allows apple users to run windows apps on mac... :p

however, he could try Mac On Linux, not sure how well it works, but its worth a try...possibly?
