    Hi everyone,
This is my first experience using Linux, in general. I currently have all 3 installed, the latest versions of course. Right now, I have 3 problems but the most important is the bootloader. My computer is currently using the Linux Mint Grub Bootloader first, which only lists Mint and Vista as my options. However, if I chose Vista, it then gives me the option for Ubuntu or Vista. Then, if I choose Ubuntu, it lists all 3. Is there someway, I could set it to just go directly to the Ubuntu Grub Bootloader?

    2. I have the Sigmatel 9205( I believe, I have a Dell XPS M1530) and I can get sound to work but my mic(built in or plug in doesn't work).

Thanks for the help everyone, I'm loving my transition to Linux so far besides these minor issues.

    1. Did you use Wubi? If not, try the Super GRUB disc.
    2. The mic might not ever work, try doing some googling.

How about a different boot loader, like say LILO?

If you set the bootable partition to the one where the ubuntu boot loader is installed it should load that one up.

This or this may help you. I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to triple-boot Linux, Linux, Linux. lol

    Good luck.

    Thanks for the help everybody.

I tried Lilo, Wubi and Super Grub, all of which failed to get the Ubuntu bootloader to recognize Mint and make it boot first.

So, I tried VistaBootPro to start up the Ubuntu partition first, which corrupted everything and even using fixboot and fixmbr didn't work.

So, I'm going to give up temporary and just dual boot Ubuntu and Vista, until Fedora 9 is released. Mint has just been too unstable for me and the Adept Manager crashes too often to be usable.

I just know, I will be running into this problem 3 weeks from now. :D

Oh yeah, most, if not all Windows-based boot managers fail to see linux. Even EasyBCD. And like Thomas said, how come Mint is unstable? It's pretty much Ubuntu + more. I've used Daryna before, and I never ran into problems with it.

Mint is 100% stable, now how is it unstable?

I was using 4.0 KDE Community Edition. Well, let me rescind that statement about Mint being unstable. It was the Package Manager that was. I also have a gripe with the media player not having any way to visually find other partitions. There is probably some way but I am not familiar with it.

Hmm, I've only used Gnome since I prefer Gnome over KDE by far. It ran seamlessly (except wifi never worked, but it was on a different computer which was OMG-so-linux-unfriendly).

@Thomas: Yeah I know, no need to repeat yourself lol XD :p.

Well, just wanted to emphasize it ;)
I see the package manager. You know you can have Ubuntu with Gnome and KDE, right?

It actually hasn't really crossed my mind, since I am content with Ubuntu. I just wanted to try KDE out and found myself trying the Mint version out instead of Kubuntu.

    :D Guess, I'll try triple-booting once more.

:D I'll just say, I'm experimenting with distros.

It'll run it fine, no problems, you can use envy to get the nVidia drivers.

Some people (try google) are saying KDE 4.0 is not ready for prime, should still be in beta. Might want to keep that in mind when trying KDE4.0. Mint should be as stable as ubuntu is.
