Hello, I have a really sucky desktop. Id like to run linux on it sometime within the next year, and I wanted some opinions.
I've considered Xubuntu, just looking for others. I don't want something like DSL or Puppy linux though.
    Specs:
    AMD Palmero 1.8GHz
    192MBs DDR RAM
    SiS 760 GPU....really sucky...
    Thanks!

I'm pretty sure Xubuntu will run fine on it, burn a livecd to try it out and check the resources with resource monitor. If that doesn't work out i'll get back to you on some light distro's I'm testing right now.

Live CD? Live CDs won't run on this thing...Maybe they can...could be too slow. I'm considering Dream Linux, with XFCE. Ubuntulite might work too..

Wolvix or Zenwalk would be faster

I really like the look of both of those, thanks for the info. I'll download them immediately to test them out.

Antix by Anticapitalista (part of the MEPIS team). Very lite, fast.

I stand by Arch. It's lightweight and you can customize it the way you like it.

If you could find a stick of RAM and get that thing up to at least 512 it'd make a huge difference - you could test-drive Live CD's and it'd be a lot snappier all the way around.

I know, I really need to.
I'm loking at UbuntuLite and Antix right now.
