Hey guys, I just installed Ubuntu 9.04 on my Mini 9 by using a comptable USB stick and using unetboot. I finally got it working :D

The Skype I had on old Dell ubuntu 8.04 isnt compatible with 9.04, so does anyone have suggestions for webcamming? I would prefer Skype but any software would be fine.

if you use GNOME desktop environment (Ubuntu default), you can use ekiga. In case if your buddies still use Window$, there is a port of ekiga for Window$.

On my mini 9 Ubuntu laptop, I tried to download that skype and use the installer file, but the installer file wouldn't run.

I guess I'll try Ekiga though and see how it works.

I would recommend Kopete; unfortunately that means installing KDE libraries and loading them every time you want to use this program. Pidgin (GNOME) has little or no webcam support to my knowledge.

You can enter "lsusb" into the command line to find what make and model your webcam is. You'll need that information to know what driver you need.
