Hey guys, I'm dual booting Ubuntu and Vista. This morning I got to the Ubuntu log on screen, and I clicked restart because I wanted to choose Vista from the boot menu (and was too slow the first time around). I saw some green vertical lines going down the screen, a bit of a high pitched sound and then the screen became white (kinda beige maybe?). Now whenever I turn the computer on, it's just that white screen. It doesn't even say DELL where you can press F8 and all. Is this the white screen of death? If so what do I do!?

    =(

Try an external monitor, green lines + white screen sounds like busted LCD. I've cracked my share of displays, i know how they look like when they go. :p

It's also a side-effect of Nvidia drivers on Linux, as well as something that can happen if you overclock and kill your GPU
