Some times this happens, either the network icon or the sound icon in the task bar will turn red. What does it mean?![]()
-
It's not that important, I was only curious.
I assume it's Ubuntu's way of telling me there's something it's trying to do, or needs attention.
-
I know sound is due to it being muted, and am betting network is something similar to that.
-
But it would be strange that the icons would turn entirely red, no?
-
That's what they do. Coincidentally since I selected "No sounds" in the sound theme, the sound icon stopped turning red.
-
See, here it is again.

I'm not sure but I dug this up, it looks like it could be muted and an application is playing sound thru the mixer:

Ah ok, I suspected something like this. Thanks a lot!
Why are the network and sound icons red in Ubuntu?
