I don't understand why a lot of people prefer Linux over Windows. Why is it so much better?

-Linux barely has any software, there are so many more programs and applications that work with Windows than there are with Linux. Not to mention that Linux's freeware versions of software aren't as good as the original Windows versions. Have fun emailing libreoffice/openoffice files to people instead of .Doc files, not to mention the formatting problems that arise from doing this.

-There's also compatibility issues with external hardware, as not all hardware is made to be recognized by Linux. Good luck adding music/jailbreaking your iPhone/iPad/iPod, good luck installing printer software and drivers, good luck trying to get your GPS/Calculator/Watch/Any electronic device really, to work with Linux as well as it works with Windows.

-It's so much more harder to use than Windows. Unless you're doing simple web browsing, doing other chores on a Linux machine is quite a workout. I understand that it works completely differently from Windows and Mac OS, but I can't find any good guides anywhere on how the file system works. I have 6 drives on my computer, if I use windows, I can easily label them A: to Z:, while I get confused on which drive is which in Linux. Where are the program files installed on Linux? Why do I have to run a sudo command if I just want to transfer a file? Why can't I just drag and drop?

Even the simplest tasks that would have taken 2 seconds on Windows takes over a minute in Linux, such as installing Adobe flash. Good luck trying to get games to run, removing software you forgot the name of, removing items off the task bar, adding items to the task bar, changing screen resolution, adding/removing users, creating a bootable USB from linux, etc. IDK why it's so hard to do these things.

-You might have a cooler looking desktop interface with conky and compiz fusion installed, but it's all meaningless if your productivity is gone because of it.
